Enterprise Permission Reporter

The Enterprise Permission Reporter analyses the file system environment of your customers quickly and just-in-time. It generates Excel-friendly HTML-files, which can be opened with any browser.
The Question
One of the main tasks in today’s administration is to provide an answer to the logical questions on abstract environments. Often, these questions are not raised by IT-departments and can be, for instance: “Who has what rights to the folder ‘Documents of company XY”? or “Which folder can the user XY access?”
Even a professional employee will spend days in replying to these queries and will even then not be sure, whether the answer is correct.
The Problem
While searching for answers to these questions you will come across many programs, which check and even document your file system. Many programs read the access control list (ACL) of the directory and document it in some way. However, this does not solve the main problem, because you will have a bunch of groups accessing your folders – i.e. who is now a member of these groups? Groups can be, and often are, members of other groups. As a result, answering these questions will lead you to a clutter of many open MMC-windows.
Does the problem exist with EPR too? – No!
The Solution
The Enterprise Permission Reporter can analyze your file-system environment quickly and just-in-time. It generates Excel-friendly HTML-files that can be opened with any browser. These independent HTML-files can also be opened via EPR, in order thus to create filtered reports, which can be saved and published separately.
You will be able to answer questions like “Which folder can the user XY access?’ in seconds after analyzing your environment.
Each report is based on user objects and the complexity of your group structure is completely irrelevant. EPR will always resolve all the group memberships till the users. Each listed user permission also contains the path to the respective membership, in order to track, why the user has this permission (e.g. <G-Group_Sales->G-Group_DepartmentX->G-CountryX->L-Permissiongroup>)
All generated reports are clear, can be published via e-mail, web etc. and can be opened, filtered and sorted. Moreover, it is also possible to open these reports with every spreadsheet program like Excel or SQL-Server.
